Where the rates come from

Our server pulls them from exchangerate-api.com once an hour and stores them as a plain file. Your browser asks only utilore.com — the rate provider never sees your address or the pair you are interested in. If an update fails, the previous file stays in place: a rate from this morning is more useful than an empty page.

These are mid-market rates, not the price at the counter

What you see is the reference rate between banks. An exchange office, a card payment or a transfer service adds its own margin — usually 1–3% for cards and 3–7% at an airport counter. Use these numbers to check an offer, not to predict the exact amount you will receive.

Frequently asked questions

How often are the rates updated?

Our server refreshes them every hour; the source itself publishes new values once a day, and the timestamp under the result shows exactly when.

Is my query sent to a third party?

No. The browser requests the rates from utilore.com and does the arithmetic itself — the provider does not see who converted what.

Why does the bank give me less?

Because this is the mid-market rate. Banks and exchange offices add a spread, and cards may also charge a foreign transaction fee.

Which currencies are supported?

Sixty-five, from the dollar and euro to the tenge, hryvnia, dirham and rand. If a currency is missing from the list, its rate was not in the source.

Does it work offline?

The last loaded rates are cached for half an hour, so a page reopened shortly after will still convert. A completely fresh session needs the network once.
