About Utilore

A catalogue of small, single-purpose tools that run inside your browser — no accounts, no uploads, no file size limits beyond what your device can hold.

What this site is

Utilore collects the everyday tools people search for one at a time: convert an image, shrink a PDF, trim an audio file, work out a percentage, check a unit or a currency. Each one is a single page that does one thing, published in fifteen languages. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.

How it works, technically

The tools are built on what the browser can already do — Canvas, Web Audio, Web Crypto, WebCodecs — plus WebAssembly builds of ffmpeg, pdf.js, tesseract and onnxruntime. All of it is served from utilore.com rather than a third-party CDN. Your file is opened by the page you are already on, processed in memory on your own machine, and offered back as a download. It is not sent anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.

Where the boundary is

Three things genuinely need a server, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise: the network tools (your own IP address, DNS and TLS lookups), the connection speed test, and the currency converter, which reads exchange rates we refresh every hour. Everything else is offline once the page has loaded — you can disconnect and keep working.

How the site is paid for

By advertising. That is the whole business model: no paid tier, no accounts to sell, no data to resell. It also sets a limit we intend to keep — a tool that would work better without a server does not get one just to collect something.

Accuracy and mistakes

The calculators follow published formulas, and the pages explain which one they use, so a result can be checked rather than taken on faith. They are still reference tools, not advice: for a mortgage, a loan or anything medical, confirm the number with someone who is responsible for it. If you find a wrong result or a broken tool, the fastest way to get it fixed is to write to us with the input you used.
