The camera image never leaves your device: the code is decoded here, in the page. That is the point — a boarding pass or a payment code is not something to send to a stranger’s server for reading.

How to use

  1. Press «Turn on the camera» and allow access, or pick a picture with a code.
  2. Point the camera at the code — it is read as soon as it comes into focus.
  3. Read what is inside: a link shows its domain separately, Wi-Fi shows the network and password.

Why a scanner should show the link, not open it

A QR code cannot be read by eye. That is convenient for a poster and convenient for whoever swaps the sticker on it: the address inside can be anything, and you find out only after you land there. So the link is never opened for you — the domain is shown separately, and if it looks like a common way of hiding the real destination, that is said out loud.

The camera picture stays on your device

Decoding happens in the page itself: the frame goes to the decoder and nowhere else. This is not a formality — a boarding pass, a payment code or a door key are exactly the things one should not hand to a stranger’s server for recognition.

Frequently asked questions

The browser refuses the camera. What now?

Take a photo or a screenshot of the code and read it from the picture — the file goes through the same decoder, and the result is the same.

It does not read my code. Why?

Most often the photo is blurred, or the code is cut off at the edge: the decoder needs all three corner squares. Try again, filling more of the frame.

What kinds of codes are understood?

Links, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards, phone numbers, email addresses, text messages and map points. Anything else is shown as plain text.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Neither the camera image nor the picture you pick leaves your device.
