What the code actually holds

A single line: WIFI:T:WPA;S:network;P:password;;. Phones have understood it since Android 10 and iOS 11, and the camera app is enough — no separate scanner. Because the password sits in the code as plain text, whoever can see the code can join the network.

Where to put it

On the fridge, by the door, on the reception desk, in the guest room. For a café or an office print the SVG: it stays sharp at any size and survives being taped behind glass. If the network is hidden, tick the box — otherwise the phone will not find it.

Is my password uploaded anywhere?

No. The code is built inside your browser, so the password never leaves your device.

Which phones can scan it?

Android 10 and newer, iPhone with iOS 11 and newer — the standard camera app is enough. Older phones need a QR app with Wi-Fi support.

Is the password hidden inside the code?

No, it is stored as plain text. Anyone who can scan the code can read it, so treat the printout as you would the password itself.

What if the network name has spaces or symbols?

That is fine — semicolons, commas and quotes are escaped automatically. Just type the name exactly as it is shown on your device.
