Good to know

A static code has no owner

Many services build a dynamic code: the QR points at their domain, which then redirects to you. That gives statistics but ties the printed code to someone else's subscription. Here the address is inside the code itself, so it works as long as your link works.

Make the link short before you encode it

The longer the address, the denser the pattern and the harder it is to scan from a distance. Drop tracking parameters, prefer a short path, and if the link is genuinely long, use error correction level M rather than H.

Frequently asked questions

Will the code expire?

No. It is a picture of your address, not a redirect through our server, so it works as long as the page does.

Can I see how many people scanned it?

No, and that is the trade-off: a static code carries no counter. Add your own UTM parameters to the link if you need statistics.

How big should I print it?

Roughly a tenth of the scanning distance: about 5 cm for half a metre, about 20 cm for a poster read from two metres.

Do I have to include https://?

Yes, put the scheme in. Without it some cameras treat the text as a search query instead of a link.
