Photo Enhancer

A picture looks small, soft or washed out — and it has to go on a poster, a slide or a listing. This page does the honest half of the job: it scales the frame up and returns contrast to the edges that scaling softened. What the camera never captured cannot come back, and nothing here pretends otherwise.

or drop them here

A picture: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC. Up to 40 MB

No new detail will appear. Enlarging recalculates the pixels that are already there — what the camera did not capture cannot be recovered, and anything that “restores” it is drawing something that was never in the frame.

The picture stays on this device: it is enlarged inside the tab and nothing is uploaded. Nothing is downloaded either — there is no model here, only arithmetic, so the page works with the network off.

What this is good for: printing a small logo bigger, filling a slide, feeding a form that demands a minimum size. What it will not do: make a blurred licence plate readable, or turn a screenshot into a photograph.

How to use

  1. Pick the photo — JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC.
  2. Choose how much bigger: two, three or four times. The size and weight of the result are shown before you press.
  3. Press the button, look at the one-to-one comparison and download the PNG.

Good to know

What “better quality” means here

Two things, both measurable. The frame becomes larger, so it no longer breaks into squares on a big screen. And the edges get an unsharp mask — a controlled return of the contrast that scaling ate. Neither step adds information: the picture is the same picture, printed and traced more carefully. Anything beyond that would be a guess dressed up as a photograph.

Why there is no neural network

Networks that “restore” a blurred face do not bring it back — they invent something plausible. On a holiday snapshot that is a matter of taste; on a document, a product shot or a camera frame it is a forgery, and the person using it usually does not know. So this page keeps to arithmetic: it works with the network off, uploads nothing, and will never invent a detail you would later have to defend.

Frequently asked questions

Will a blurry photo become sharp?

No. Blur means the detail was never recorded. Edges will get more contrast, and at a larger size the picture will look cleaner — but a lost detail stays lost.

Is the photo uploaded anywhere?

No, and nothing is downloaded either. There is no model here, only arithmetic — after the page loads it works with the network off.

How much bigger can it go?

Up to four times, within the limit the browser can hold in one canvas. The exact result size is shown before you press, so nothing fails halfway.

Which format comes out?

PNG. It is lossless, so the enlargement is not spoiled by compression on the way out.
