WHOIS Lookup
Enter a domain and see what the registry knows about it: who registered it, when it expires, which name servers it uses and whether it is locked against transfer.
The query goes out from our server, so the registry does not see your address.

How to use
- Enter the domain name, without http:// — for example, example.com.
- Press «Look up».
- Read the summary, and open the full answer if you need a field we did not extract.
Good to know
Three servers answer, not one
WHOIS is a chain. IANA knows which server is responsible for the zone, that server knows which registrar holds the domain, and only the registrar's server usually carries the dates and contacts. This lookup walks all three and shows which servers it asked — so when a field is missing, you can see where the chain stopped.
What the status codes are actually saying
clientTransferProhibited is not a problem — it is a lock the owner set to stop the domain being stolen by transfer. pendingDelete and redemptionPeriod mean the domain lapsed and is on its way out. serverHold means it has been switched off at the registry level and no longer resolves, whatever the DNS says.
Frequently asked questions
Why are the owner's name and email hidden?
Since GDPR, registries redact personal data for most domains. The registrar, the dates and the status codes remain public; the contact behind them usually does not.
It says the domain is free — can I register it?
Probably, but check with a registrar before celebrating. Some zones answer only for registered domains, and a few block automated queries entirely.
Why is the answer in a different format for every domain?
Because WHOIS has no single format. Every registry writes its own field names, which is why the raw answer is shown alongside what we could extract.
Does the registry see my address?
No. The query goes out from our server; nothing about you is passed on.
