Up to 12 photos — JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC from a phone
Photos fill their cells and are cropped at the edges from the centre — stretching them would widen every face, and that is visible to everyone. The order matters: the first photo is the big one in layouts that have a big one. Nothing is uploaded; the collage is drawn on your own device.

Good to know
Why the photos are cropped and not squeezed
Every photo fills its cell completely and is trimmed at the edges, from the centre outwards. Stretching them to fit would be easier and instantly visible: faces get wider, and the whole collage looks thrown together. Cropping loses a little at the sides; squeezing loses the likeness of everyone in the frame, which is a worse trade. If the important part of a photo is not in the middle, crop it first and bring it back.
The order is the composition
Photos are laid out in the order they are listed, and in the layouts that have a big cell, the first one goes into it. That is the whole of the arrangement: move a picture to the top and it becomes the main one. The spacing and the border are set as a share of the shorter side, so the same number looks the same on a square and on a tall canvas — a fixed pixel value would read as a hairline on one and a frame on the other.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The collage is drawn on a canvas inside your browser, on your device. Family photos are exactly the kind of thing that should not be going to someone else's server to be arranged in a square.
Can I use photos from an iPhone?
Yes. HEIC files are decoded here — with a WebAssembly decoder loaded only when the browser cannot manage it itself. They go into the collage like any other picture.
Why only twelve photos?
Beyond that it stops being a collage and becomes a contact sheet: on a 1080-pixel canvas each picture is smaller than a thumbnail, and nothing in it can be made out. If you need more, make several collages.
The result is not exactly what I pictured.
Try changing the layout — the same photos in a grid and in «one big» read quite differently. Reordering helps too: a collage usually has one picture that should be looked at first.
